Don Zahourek puts 100% of himself into making certain that you and your group have
that trip of a lifetime.

Most good guides can put a fellow, or lady, on to a fish. However, it takes a special touch to add fun and memories. Don has that special touch. You'll spend a day on the water with a touch of Kansas Soul. The only thing you'll end up losing is stress!

Let your outdoor dream come true!

Waconda Lake is one of the premiere fishing lakes in the state of  Kansas & USA; it provides over 12,586 water  acres.  You'll never forget watching the sun set
over Waconda ...it's worth the trip alone.

What's Included...

After a day of incredible fishing on Waconda Lake you can spend a relaxing night in one of Don's lodge houses. Our lodges are fully equipped and include:

Kitchen & Utensils    Outdoor Gas Grills  •  Towels & Linens

Fish Cleaning Facility (at lake site)

The only thing missing is your group relaxing on the lodge's front porch or backyard, and maybe a poker game around the kitchen table.

Catch Slab Fever!

When I was a kid, a great day on the old farm pond was a stringer of bass and crappie, maybe a half-dozen. I was always thrilled, mom was always less than tickled with the fish scales in the kitchen sink. You grow up, venture far and wide and they tell you "ya can't go back home. " Well, if I had a choice of the old farm pond or a day with Don of reeling in huge fat slabs, I'd pass on the good old days. Besides, a fishing trip with Don never involves an angry bull in the back pasture. Don will put you onto walleye, slab white bass and catfish a-plenty. A fishing party last year caught over 400 keepers with 100 being an average day and mom didn't even have to clean 'em!

Bow Fishing

Bored fishing the same way every time? Want to test your bow skills?  Let Cheryl guide you along the shores of Waconda Lake while you fish the real old fashioned way!  Tap into your keen observation and stealth hunting skills... while bow FISHING!  It's a great change-of-pace challenge.
*Bow fishermen must provide their own equipment.

Good Times & Good Friends… AFTER HOURS

When the day is done and the rods are stored, it's time to re-live the day's catches and near misses, time to spin a yarn or two, you know, lie like a fisherman!  The late Gene Hill used to write about fishless days and angling nights. Had Gene fished with Don a few times, he would have had no inspiration for fishless day recollections. And, best of all, whether it's your first trip with him or the tenth, Don has a way about him that puts everyone at ease -- helping everyone find their comfort zone.

Need a Kansas Fishing License?

If you need to purchase a Kansas Fishing License, Don can show you where you can purchase one in Glen Elder after you arrive.  OR, if you would like to purchase a license BEFORE arriving you can do so by visiting the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks website...

Don also offers guided trips for Kansas pheasant and turkey.

But, that's another story.  Don adds the same flavor to the uplands that he does
to a boat full of fishermen. Book your first trip and I guarantee it won't be your last!
